Engine knocking

Engine knocking

I have an 05 civic dx altinator went replaced it and now I have a knocking in engine idle and Acceleration and stated overheating and stalled when I got home

Alternator shouldn't cause engine knocking. Although if you put an aftermarket alternator on that can cause electrical issues. Sounds like you have a few different problems going on.

Definitely check alternator mounting bolts. One of the top, one on the bottom going to a bracket, one from the bracket to the block. All need to be tight, not just the wingnut.

If the knocking sound isn't due to a loose alternator bolt and is within the engine it's possibly rod knock as shown in the video below. Does your engine make similar sounds in idle and while being revved? Overheating could be a few possibilities such as stuck thermostat, failed water pump, clogged radiator, blown headgasket. Is it losing coolant in the radiator? Gaining coolant in the reservoir?
