car shakes violently during drive, engine oil in exahust
hi ,
I got a honda civic 2001 1.4 hatch SE. engine rev drops when its idle. during drive car shakes violently, rev drops but engine still runs. i hear a clicking noise coming from under the glove compartment, i assume its the relay that is clicking. also there are engine oil coming from the exhaust and smells like burning engine oil around. guy i bought if from, removed the check engine light fuse, so no sign on dash, also the fuse connector lead is removed so i can't the fuse. and finally, during idle if i turn the headlight on, the engine tends to shut off but rev up back again.
wondering if all those problem are related. any help will be appreciated

Re: car shakes violently during drive, engine oil in exahust
Will a scanner communicate with the engine computer?
Got fault codes, or does it say there's a communication error?
Are the alternator mounting bolts properly tightened? Loose alternator bolts cause grounding problems and can quickly ruin the PCM. It's a big problem over here with the 1.7 D series engines, and some of what you describe seems similar (relays clicking, computer in limp mode, various warning lights on, gauges act wrong).
