Squeaking noise on Honda Civic 2001 Lx
About 2 weeks ago I started hearing a squeaking noise on the driver side of my car . It gets worse as I accelerate and stops sometimes when I stop. It stops after awhile when the car just sits still. I have had both belts replaced and the squeaking did not stop . Any ideas ?

Most likely a/c (belt) tensioner pulley or the alternator. Use an auto-stethoscope or long piece of 1/2" or 3/4" pvc pipe against your ear to listen for suspected parts when engine is running.

I was told that I am missing a nut on the lower alternator tightening screw. Could this be the reason for the squeaking and where can I get the nut from ?

Get that fixed asap...could possibly lead to bigger issue PCM damage. Read: https://honda-tech.com/forums/honda-...-read-3166577/

Don't forget to tighten all the bolts!
Loose alternator mounting bolts can ruin the PCM. That ain't cheap. .

That belt is for the alternator and A/C compressor (if equipped). There is a wingnut on the bracket on the bottom of the alternator used to tighten the belt. Then there are two more bolts on that same bracket to lock it down.
