Confirmed Cracked Engine Block

I guess I'm apart of the Honda Civic Cracked Engine Block Me Too Movement. As primary owner/driver I too never received notification regarding the potential for engine cracks nor any extension of the warranty regarding the engine.

I started having problems with overheating, stalling, and leaks so I immediately took it to the nearest, reputable repair shop here in Atlanta.

There a certified mechanic told me this had been a problem on a much larger scale than I knew. He recalled a few other customers having the same issue a couple of years back.

Of course I had to pay him the diagnostics fee, but he couldn't work on it and suggested I call Honda to see if it would be covered.

Right away, I did and my case was assigned to Monique. I expressed that notification was not received regarding these defects, extension of warranty, it nor wassuggested during service that I should schedule to have the engine block checked. I explained although an 08 the mileage has just reached over 135K this Spring (2020), because it often sits for periods of time

I went on to provide her with all the info found in my research including the Honda Service Bulletin Number, VIN, etc. which also confirmed that my vehicle in particular was indeed affected (defected) during manufacturing.

I was directed to take the vehicle to the service department of the South Honda Dealership so the diagnosis could be confirmed. That the diagnostics fee would be at additional costs, which I did.

There at the dealership diagnostics test were ran, photos were taken confirming that
there are indeed cracks in the engine block similar to those qualifying for warranty repair.

Now, all that haven been said and done... They Still Denied It !!!
I insisted that my case be forwarded for Goodwill Consideration given the circumstances, and again today I'm told that they are standing firm on their decision.

I'm very upset because she could visibly see a records indicating the car has been properly maintained in various (military) parts of the east coast, but declined.

And, when I asked for name's and/or titles of those who made these decisions Monique's response was "American Honda". Adding insult to injury I'm told that "they" do not mail, or fax out letters regarding the determination of cases.

That really floored me !

I could only find enough words left in me to say...

"So Honda makes a mistake in manufacturing/redesigning the engine block, doesn't feel it should have any responsibility to notify the consumer's about it, silently adds two years to it's warranty, and then feels the consumer should pay any expense diagnostic or otherwise related to it".

Shameful !!!
