Windshield wiper motor issues

Hello guys ! New member and first post.

Purchased an 06 civic 4 dr sedan, and started having intermittent issues with wiper motor. After researching the issue I picked up a used motor and looked up the swap on You tube. After all is said and done....wipers rest at 45 degrees on the window but they do clean the entire window properly. Made sure I lined up the arrow to the three little markings on the mechanism. Any ideas what I’ve done wrong? Do I have the mechanism misaligned or in a partial rotation????

Try taking the arms off the linkage, let it run a couple cycles and then reinstall the arms with the linkage in the park position. Otherwise the motor isn't indexed to the linkage and you need to separate them, park the linkage, and then install the motor

Re: Windshield wiper motor issues

I figured the linkage is out of sync...the weird thing is when the wipers are at “ resting “ position....they go both directions...up and down...so when I tried to align them they just jammed at the bottom of the window where the top edge of the hood meets...real mess..issue is getting the mechanism out without having everything rotate out of position....

If you can keep the motor attached to the linkage and remove both as an assembly, that will keep the linkage from flopping around

Don’t have a choice...can’t take the motor off the linkage until it’s out of the car...I may have gotten it out of sync when I took the motor off

When it’s in the rest position...it’s totally misaligned with the markings on the linkage and the arrow

that's a pain, the older cars you could pull it out as an assembly

You may have to play with it for a bit to get everything back to normal, could be half of it is like 180* out

....
not sure....what I saw before it started snowing and got dark was that in the rest position....the arrow on the short and that connects to the motor...is about 90 degrees from the little marks on the mechanism....what dictates the reating position? Does the motor have any bearing on this or is it all in the mechanism...

Re: Windshield wiper motor issues

Not sure, I've only messed with the older ones. I don't think the motor matters, unless there's a gear box attached

Here is a link to the instructions for replacing the wiper motor on the 8th gen Civic. This is coming from the service manual.
