Hi team, i have a 2014 Honda Civic hatch with the split fold down magic seats in the rear - the right hand side seat release handle mechanism appears to be broken, maybe the cable has become loose, and wont release the latch allowing the seat to fold down. I cant see anywhere that is possible to access the latch without cutting into the seat to release it. Hoping there is an easy solution...Mike

There is an access point at the top back side of the seat, the latch mechanism is a U shaped piece that moves left and right to latch unlatch the seat, you may be able to stick a small blades screw driver in this opening to move the latch part. Use a bright light you may need to climb into the trunk or access it from the back seat side that will fold down. Check the cable and level it attached to that moves this U shaped piece, to see if something is broke or lose.

Hi Mike and all on this group.

Did you manage top get this problem sorted.?
I'm having the same problem with the bigger seat at the back stuck and will not fold.
Getting access to see where the rod has jumped off the lock is my problem.
I think the rod operating the lock via lever on top of the seat (Red/Black) plastic toggle is not releasing the lock via spring./rod.

Any ideas or solutions please?
Any diagram of this mechanism will be most appreciated..

Hi all,

This has just happened to me and I will be selling my Civic Estate so need to get this sorted. There’s absolutely no room to even see down the mechanism, the lever has come out so no idea how to access the latch. I went into the local Honda dealership and they want to charge me £160 just to investigate. Any pictures would be welcome.
I also can’t find the access point mentioned by Mild Mods.
Help!!!
