Flashing green Key light 09 civic
3 days ago i bought an 09 2 dr DX civic, with the intentions of using it as a commuter vehicle.
It needed a jump start because it had been siting for a few weeks. I jumped the car and drove it ~5 min and onto the dolly it went where it began its journey to my house. I got it home and it needed another jump to drive it off the dolly, again no issues starting up. I parked it and shut the car off after letting it sit running idle for ~20 min to help charge up the battery. later on that evening went to go start it up to see if the charge held, and it wouldnt start up. The green key light popped on (didnt realize what it was until now) and at the time i just assumed it was something i would look into when i had some more time. The next day i went to go play with it and it started right up. drove it up the road about 10 miles and it ran great! So much so i decided to take it on a further road trip. I drove it an additional 30 miles and parked it and shut it off, then when i went to go start it up the fun stuff began with the blinking green key light. I have since spent the last 2 days scouring the internet and trying just about everything short of sending a tow truck to take it to a dealer.
I called a lock smith to try and re-program the keys and his unit gave him a "access denied" error. I checked all the mini fuses, played the in and out with the key game, tried button combinations on the key fob, key in the door combinations where i turn to "unlock and lock" did several 10 minute waits with the battery disconnected, i am just about ready to send it to the dealership where if the cost is more than half of my initial investment into the car, i will just scrap it.
I hope someone out there can give me a few bits of advice on a different technique or something to try before it becomes recycled steel. i dont care what kind of shape the car ends up in as long as it drives, i only care about the fuel efficiency. I am desperate to get it to run half the car is held together with zipties as it is. there has to be a work around for this silly immobilizer.
Here is a video of the green key light blinking. When it was running the only light on the dash was the TPMS light. No codes to display from OBDII reader.
TIA!

Re: Flashing green Key light 09 civic
called dealer, Cost to replace - 235$. The problem is they can’t get their hands on one.
they said they could do a used one but I’ve read around the immobilizer is tied to a few components.
I wonder if I would need to find an exact model to my car to pull it from in order to be compatible or if I could pull something from within that generation.
Has anyone had any luck swapping their immobilizer?

Re: Flashing green Key light 09 civic
Used one needs to be programmed for it to work.
unless you grab keys, immobilizer, and ecu from a car identical to yours (year, engine, trans). Then you would just install since it's a matched set, no programming needed
