Stock stereo volume not as loud as it used to be.

Hi i have a 2010 honda civic and stock stereo and the volume has halved meaning that usually i wouldnt have to go higher than 20 and now i have to turn up the volume to full and then maybe get the same sound as what i used to get at 20. Been trying to figure out what could be the problem. Can anyone help me with this what could be the issue please help.

Is it using Bluetooth or auxiliary? Check your phone volume.

i am using aux but i tried cd and fm aswell its the same and phone volume is definitely full. No strange noises aswell. Is it possible that speakers are not getting enough power or the stereo.?

Maybe you blew a speaker, use the stereo settings to move the sound around and see if a speaker isn't working

checked they are good.. so i ll add to the story abit my car was impounded for 28 days and was in the sun and in australian heat and when she came back form the impound its sound had gone down.. and had a new battery installed after the car came back.. so i was thinking could it be wires or something that could ve been affected by the heat

Something may have gotten damaged/melted but you're going to have to take stuff apart and look to determine that

Re: Stock stereo volume not as loud as it used to be.

Check your battery and your speaker wires themselves. If the wires melted somewhere and are touching even on just one speaker it is similar to a parallel circuit which will cut your power by half. I would replace the speaker wires before spending money on an electrician. Its just a 12 volt system. You can also run 2 speakers in a series circuit on 1 channel and get the same amt of current through both as compared to one speaker. Speakers are current sensitive, so if those wires melted and are touching you are getting half current draw which would explain the volume loss.

Re: Stock stereo volume not as loud as it used to be.

When I was younger and had to have it as loud as possible (I still do actually) lol I would run 2 kicker boxes in series(4speakers) then bridge across the positive on the 1st speaker and negative on the last speaker. Id run 8 speakers on a a 2 channel cheap *** stereo. You could also bridge those 2 channels and have all 8 speakers running mono but with that much wire there is a lot of resistance and it could cut your power. Trial and error on that. Wont hurt your speakers to try though. Just make sure they're all the same number of ohms.
