Problem with Stock Stereo
Problem with Stock Stereo
After starting my 2005 civic lx, the stereo played for about four seconds then died. Two days later, I turned it on and it played four eight seconds and died. I can still turn the volume up and adjust controls, but I have no sound coming out of it at all. Does anyone know what could cause this? Thanks in advance.

Re: Problem with Stock Stereo
Could be the output IC died (possible bad solder connections ??)
Any strange noises before the sound went out ?? Noise or sound cutting in and out ??
Most likely aftermarket replacement deck would be cheapest option.

He would still hear sound out of the others. Sounds like the radio. Could be a solder joint that needs re-soldering.

Only if the bad speaker were blown open, ie resistance is infinite.
If the speaker is blown short (resistance is 0) it's very possible to shut the entire chip amp down as a safety measure.

I forgot to add a grounded speaker wire, I just got done with a call where a grounded spkr was shutting down the factory radio.
