Force required to deploy airbags?
Force required to deploy airbags?
A friend of mine was t-boned at an intersection today in a 2007 Honda Civic sedan, where the impact was at the front passenger side fender. The side impact airbag on the passenger side was deployed. We're trying to figure out the force required to deploy the air bag so we can figure out how fast the other driver was going (to prove the other person did not stop at the stop sign). Where can I find this manufacturer data? I've googled it with no luck...

Re: Force required to deploy airbags?
US regulations say 14mph into a barrier, 28mph into another non-moving car (assuming cars are similar). ofcourse that is dependent on where the impact occurs. rear collisions almost never deploy the airbag because there is no point (and no sensors in the rear).
