Auto Trany noise ?
Hi Folks,
I have a 03 Civic EX (w/auto). And every time I start the car and push the brake and shift into drive and slowly take off , I hear a "clicking" sound and it happens only once and then it is "a-ok". It has been doing that since I bought the car (2 mo`s. ago). At first I figured just another "break-in noise" . Car now has 1300 miles on it and is still doing it. It`s not loud and it`s not a clunck , just a click , with no vibration or feel of any kind.
Now , I just noticed that when I am stoped (ie; red light) in drive the car makes a very faint "whirrling" sound and when I shift into neutral it stops.
Going to the dealer is not something that I look forward to because it is soooo faint of a noise that you realy have to listen for it.
I think that it may be a lose "torque converter" making the cliking sound and the whirling sound maybe the shaft that leads to the transfer case.
Anyone how reads this and cares to help and comment , many thanks
jedi
PS: I have read alot of posts reguarding MPG , the least I have got was 32 and the most 37 gas up today and got 35.
I have been real easy with my driving for the first 1K then after I have been bring the rev`s up higher to the point of red-line a few times. And before I would always "very" my rev`s and speed. So I think that I`m breaking it in right and I "luv" the car but those noises have me puzzled
