its something our cars have pre-set to remind you to have your car checked. Its just bs. read your owners manual to find out how to re-set it. you can find it under the SEARCH button. i wouldnt worry about it cause it will happen about every 15,000 miles

He said CHECK ENGINE... not Maint Req'd. That's the real "oh ****" light not the "pay honda" light. Go in and get it checked out. You may just have a defective sensor somewhere.

I agree with Boilermaker1. That is the " 'Oh ****' " light that you need to take it very seriously. Never know what is wrong. Have the ECU scanned by the dealer. At 2700, you still got plenty of warranty.

get it checked out at dealer......but honda civic check engine lights are known to come on if you fill the gas tank right up to the top,or not tighten the gas cap at least three past clicks.

Mine came on at around 3500 miles. Couldn't figure it out. Brought it into the dealer and they said that there was hardly any oil left in the engine because there was a small break in the gasket for the oil filter. So it had been slowly leaking out since I got it new.

I had mine come on at about 3000kms. I took it in and they told me the EVAP sensor was shot. They replaced it free. So, I agree with Boilermaker on this one. Sensor problem.

Get ahold of a service manual. It will tell you how to use an SCS bridge to get the engine light to throw a series of blinks at you. Then you match the blink and interval pattern with a list of possible engine codes. This could save you a lot of money by telling you what's going on. It could be something that can be cleared with a DIY, it might not. Better to find out before you take it in to a dealer where they charge you a hundred dollars to tell you that a sensor harness was loose. : )
