Red face I think my Synchros are gone - Fixed

Ok, I was just driving along a few days ago and going up through the gears from a stop light. I went to shift from 3rd to 4th and basically had to force the stick into fourth. The same thing happened as I shifted up to 5th but it wasn't as hard as the 3-4th shift.

If shifting a normal 5spd through the gears is like moving the stick through a bucket of water, my 3rd-4th, and 4th-5th shifts are like moving the stick through a bucket of thick mud. No grinding occurs during shifting.

It doesn't happen all the time but most of the time. Usually, I will double clutch and that helps a lot but still doesn't make the shift feel normal.

I was thinking that maybe one of the cables came loose as I put the regular shifter back in a few months ago. I checked that last night and everything is fine. I went and ordered a new clip for the main cable today as it is rigged a little to keep it from making noise. Once I install the new clip, she will be going into the dealer.

Does this sound like the synchros and has anyone else had a similar problem?

In any event, I will post what happens when she goes in for repair.

Not sure.
I think that user: Grey sells the clip kit for cheap so it doesn't make noise

Yea, I know about Grey's kit. I am just replacing the clip so the dealer doesn't realize that it has been removed in the past. My current clip has a tire repair plug stuck to it to keep it from making noise. The new clip should fit perfect and like nothing was ever touched.

It doesn't sound like your synchros are gone, if they were gone you would hear that horrible grinding noise everytime you shift.

strange, i got 70k on the car, baby runs like new, knock on wood besides, if my syncros ever failed on me, it would bother me, cause then it gives me a excuse to double clutch all the time. lol

I had the same problem, stuck shifter bushing on the end of the shifter cable. The dealer fixed me up, good as new.

Ok..I got the car back from the dealer today. They replace the shifter lever and everything is back to new. It wasn't anything serious. Now, the shifter moves so easy that it feels weird.

Anyhow, they fixed my seat as well.

Everything was under warranty.
