sluggish shifting

sluggish shifting 
when i shift my civic is kinda sluggishfirst to second the car feels like it is going to die.
and then i give it alot of gas i mean peddle all the way
down just to keep it going. dose any one know what i
can do please help.

Rep Power: 0 initially, i'd start it off by sayin that it's probably just you. maybe your not controlling your clutch well enough.
when u shift from first to second gear and if u let go of the clutch too fast w/o giving it enough gas, that's going to happen to you.

Rep Power: 0 what reflekt said, just make sure yuo control the clutch and time it right as you step on the gas..
