hyper drv: honda wont touch it because you are lowered, they wont fix it they will tell you it happened becasue you lowered it. you can either put stock springs back on and give it a try (but what is the point of putting stock struts back on) or you can go to a shop and have them put new struts in or buy some koni inserts and put those in. either way it looks like you are paying for them, unless you have an encrebilly nice dealership.

the problem is a creaking popping in the strut. they told my dad and aunt (at two different dealerships, in two different states) to aviod long road trips until it is fixed. i am not waitng becasue i am going home for easter break, about 250 miles, and my dad drives all day back and forth from work. i am wating till the summer. im not to worried about it.

call you dealer and ask about a bulletin on the 2002 civics, but at no time mention your car is lowered.

HYPR DRV will become famous soon enough
Thanks man. Just needed some direction here. I care too much about my car to let it go to hell. I'm really starting to regret lowering it. I had no idea that it would be such an ordeal. I mean, I'll be getting new shocks eventually, but just wanted to know if is gonna cause mega-damage in the mean time. I'm hoping some cheaper shocks are made for our cars soon, cuz' those Konis are too expensive for just the insert. Anyway, THANX bangin.

Maybe try installing some spring isolators between the dead coils where theyre showing signs of rubbing. I've read some peeps using rubber hose and having this problem fixed. That will atleast eliminate one possibility of where the noise is coming from.

ok, i had two 02 coupes

one was an LX coupe. (it had squeeks/ticking sounds when steer or go over bumps slowly) (oh, this car is gone now so i don't have to worry bout it anymore)

the other is a Canada 02 Si coupe(same as USA EX coupe). so far, i have not noticed any of those squeeks/ ticking sounds...

how many 02 owners didn't have this problem? i think both my civic coupes, manufacturing dates are pretty close...

Guys, I drive a 2001 LX Sedan manufactured in Feb 01, and I've got this problem as well. The symptoms were a poping feeling/sound at low speeds while the wheel is turned to almost the limit (left or right). Also, I noticed that the front end was a lot more bouncy than normal.

I took it to the dealer, and they told me it was a leaking strut. Ordered 2 new front struts, ordering took 2 days, and I left the car at the dealer for a day for them to fix it under warrenty. My car's all stock.

Damn! I got a 2002 Civic too. Installed Eibach Ground Control Coilovers and they creak and pop at slow speeds. grrrrr! Still have no clue if it's the struts or just the coilovers.
