auto tranny problems
My 2001 started to make a funny whining/wizzing sound last week, Idid't think much of it untill the tranny started slipping really bad.Kinda sounded like tourqe converter. Can anyone help I would hate to take it to a shop if I could fix it myself.

There's not much you can service unless your a tranny tech. All you can do is replace the ATF and filter. Perhaps start off by checking the condition and level per instructions. Should be clear reddish in color, not burnt smelling and no foam on the stick.

Rep Power: 0 My 01 auto has been making wierd noises like that also and i have no idea what's causing it.. I only hear it when the car is at a stop.. once I start accelerating it goes away. Hope warenty covers whatever it is because I dont feel like dishing any more money into it.

Rep Power: 0 I just got off the phone with a shop and the guy told me that honda autos tourqe converters are famous for going bad and clogging the filter.When I asked what he thought it would cost he said about $700.Not a bad start for the first call I'll have to see what kind of quotes I can get Mon.

Rep Power: 0 WOW I had the same problem guys with my tranny. A week before it went it made a whinning sound also then yesterday it started to slip until it "COMPLETELY" stoped transfering power to the wheels. I had it towed to my nearest Honda dealer, and now it i being repaired under warrenty.

Rep Power: 317 All i can say is that if it slips and junk GET SOMEONE TO LOOK INTO IT. I learned the hard way and now my tranny is shot. I dont even know where to start. Hopefully i can get someone to look into it this weekend.

Rep Power: 0 i have a 5-speed, and ive been having tranny probs too.
03 ex, and the guy says an idling gear is loose, so when im in 2nd the gears are close so they rattle. and something about they get hung up so i have problems shifting from 2nd to 3rd sometimes...
