gas mileage in 2003 civic
On my 2003 HX Manual, I average 36-38 mpg, mostly highway driving...and mostly above 85mph. That comes out to about 400 miles per tank. when I'm nice to my HX, shift at 2,400rpm, do the speed limit, and such, I get 42 mpg. I bought the car new last Nov., and I already have over 16,000mi on it. the gas mileage has changed little since new... maybe the darn thing isn't broken in yet. ;-) I read in the owner's manual (the white book in the glove box READ IT!!!) and it says NOT to change the oil early (before the 1st 5,000mi). Must be some "break-in" oil in the crankcase when new. Also, don't let your cars sit and idle to warm up on cold mornings, as this causes excessive cylinder wear. Just start it, let it run for about 30 sec. and then drive gently 'til the engine warms up.

I have a 2003 LX, manual and I usually get about 350 to 375 mile to the tank....the best I ever got was 500.1 and could've kept going, that was mostly highway miles with the ac on and shifting around 3100 rpms.
