I think the 5spd DX redlines at 7100-7200rpm... however you wanna shift at 6800-6900rpm at the most.
Just buy a nice tach... try not to buy one of those 12" ones.

I think his question is, what speeds should he shift at, not what RPMS, since he doesn't have a tach at the moment, telling him the RPM is useless, in response to the other question, I can't help you cause I have an HX, which is geared differently than all the other trims. BUT, it should say in your manual what speeds you should shift at for "better" acceleration and "Normal", if you looked up your gear ratio's (get them from the manual or from edmunds.com) you could calculate your shift points. If you do get a tach, you should actually shift a little after 6000 since that's our peak horsepower, after that you're not producing much power at all, I'd say 6500 is better, though shifting later than that will cause you to start out higher in the next gear, so maybe it's worth it. Just don't go into redline or you'll blow your engine, I don't think the DX has a rev limiter like the others do...

One look to the owners manual would give you the answer.... But I guess I'm the only one that would think to read that.
Its something like 15,25,38,49 mph, but I'm not sure.
Just shift every 10 MPH and it'll work
I forget where 1st redlines, 2nd makes it to about 62, 3rd is around 80 and 4th goes up to about 110.

It will be different because I have a 6th gen, but I know where my DX hits the limiter pretty well, and the manual was just about right on the money. For my year, it looks like:
1st: 35
2nd: 59
3rd: somewhere in the 90's, haven't hit the limiter there
4rd: Apparently 118, aint gonna try to hit the limiter this fast
5th: max speed
1st: 35
2nd: 59

5th: max speed
Ugg yeah my 88 dx didn't have a tach and I had to listen to the engine. Never liked that in the vehicle I like to see the rpms on the tach. I say about 15 or under I went to 2nd. Can't remember from there on up.

I have a dx, just floor it in 1st , wait for like rev limiter to kick in a look at what speed it stops, same as for every gear
thats what i did. so far i got to 1st-25 mph 2nd-60 mph 3rd i usually shift around 85 or so, i dont really ever go about 90 or so on the way home.
