Gas Cap Release
im from N.E. so the other day it snowed here right and i went out side to clean my car off i got it and i noticed i need Gas so i go to open the gas door by pushing the button, but i looked first and noticed it was covered in Ice. so i got some hot water to melt the ice so i can open it. ok that works Ice all gone.
But when i get in the car to check to see i press the Gas button and i hear a weird noise and the gas door dont open. i cant figure if maybe if the wire snapped. or if i came un hooked so to open the gas door i have to reach in on the left side of the truck and pull the button out by hand.
Is ther anyone that might know of how to fix this without having to go to a honda dealership or garage. any DIY would be great i cant find anything as of yet..
Help is Greatly Appreciated ( i sux opening your trunk and reaching inside to open the dam thing.. i feel Ghetto. LOL )

Sounds like your cable snapped. Probably best to take it in since it should be covered by warranty.
And also, I wouldn't recommend using hot water to de-ice parts of your car during winter. That sudden temperature change can't be good for your car's body and paint. And when that hot water ends up freezing eventually, you'll have an even bigger block of ice to deal with.

Unfortunatly my warranty ended at 36 k miles and i now have 39 k.. so that cuts out that. im not deicing with scolding hot water just semi warm.. also after i get it open i wipe the water with a towel. so it dont freeze again...
asfor the cable. it didnt fall down because its still connected inside i have to pull the cable itself for the door to open. its as if there is alot of slack in the wire all of a sudden. or that the wire snapped.
i talked to the dealership and they said they have never seen a broken wire in this situation for a 2001.. usually happens on older models
