Please help: noise coming from engine

I recently noticed a strange noise, almost like a whine, coming from the engine at idle. It only starts after the car has warmed up about ten minutes, and the noise is constant while being inline with the engine timing. Very strange why it does this. Does anyone know what is causing this? My car only has 8,700 miles.

Thanks

Hey gearbox try checking the tension of the belts under the hood. Chances are the rubber has stretched and it needs to be tightened. It would go away after warm up because the belt warms and sticks better as well...

If you arent as mechanically inclined take it to the dealership...should be under warranty

hmm... maybe u have one of those special factory freak Civics, yea.. these select few Civics came with superchargers in em!!!! okay.. being realistic now, i am see that u have a system installed ( a nice one at that!!). and that whine is usually only noticed at idle. check your audio installation. the power wire should be run on the opposite side of your vehicle the RCAs are running. if they run parallel and in close proximity, they power wire will interfere with the RCA sound signal.. thus.. the whine u r hearing.

Thanks for the help. It seems to only happen when its cold outside, so I'm thinking the belts. The stereo system has been there for 5-6 months and hasn't been a problem in the past. For now I'm ignoring it until something breaks and I can take it in for warranty service.
