Creaking?

Do you guys get creaking as you pull up onto a driveway etc? I sure do. Sounds like an old haunted mansion w/spider webs

I do. Honda tells me "it normal". BS, I'm working on up grading my suspention now anyways to get rid of the noise and better handling. I've had to fix everything on my car myself because honda won't.

I have it now too. Its very faint, it started like a week ago. But after the new year it will probably get worse so the dealer cant say its normal. I have an oil change coming so they will do a whole bunch of stuff at once, seat rocking, cracked fog light, the creak. Its probably the shocks that I have heard other people complaing about.

Is the creaking coming from the moonroof area, or the suspension? Cuz I hear it once in a while from the roof area ... nothing serious though.

I didn't think we had struts in the rear, I thought we had Trailing Arms with Coil springs over the shocks? I could be wrong though because I know honda put Struts in the front for the 7th Gens but wasn't sure about the rear. Just wondering.........

If it's from the moonroof, you can fix that pretty easily.

Go to your local Honda dealer and ask for the thin narrow plastic tape that was offered as a "fix" for previous gen Civic moonroof noise.

I put it around 80% of my roof cut-out (on the vertical edge that contacts the moonroof seal rubber) and haven't heard any noise since.

If it's from the rear of the car and it happens with the E-brake on and you are getting in or out of your car, it's probably your rear brakes. If your E-brake cables are not adjusted properly, your rear drums will rotate ever so slightly against the pads and will cause a "creaking" sound.

Another potential culprit can be the rear upper spring mount if you have sleeve coilovers (i.e. Ground Control). It is necessary to generously lube up the urethane/rubber upper spring mount so that there is no noise caused by the spring or by the shock body moving up through the hole in the middle of the upper spring mount.

Just a few possibilities based on my own experiences. Hope it helps.

Terry

My makes this creak in the roof area, and i do have an EX so maybe Ill check that out about the moonroof. Thanks 3rdcivic. I have to go to Honda anyways to get my power-auto down window fixed...I also want them to look at my tires, i only have about 5,200 miles on my car and I can tell a difference in the tires from the front and the back, traction wise. At 5,000 I shouldn't be able to. These firestones are pieces. i can't wait to have money for my rims and tires!!! Thanks all.

Ok I had that problem for the longest time. For me it was in the rear suspension. What I finally figured out was that my camber kit (that rear control arm) needs to be lubricated. So I just sprayed on some WD40 on it and no more creaks!!..so try that and see if thats the problem.

WAs it after you had your rear seat down at all? Cause My rear shelf became loose twice, fixed twice. The bolts somehow tweaked and and actually cracked at the connecting points on the shelf and it was making a creaking noise whenever i pulled into or out of a driveway. They had to replace the shelf. They said it was probabably a defect. But anyway, it sounded like the rear suspension so when i took it in, my dealer checked like EVERYTHING behind the driver seat for noises, they even thought i was the suspension because it sounds like its in the rear suspension area. But the shelf was the culprit.
