20,000 miles, Is it necessary?
I'm new here. I could not really find anything on the search. I am at about 23.5k miles. I recieved a letter from the dealership telling me that its time to get a 20k mile check up. I didnt do it. Will it void my warranty. I read that it reduces the trade in value, but other than that does it have any other consequences. Or should i just get the check up?
Me, I'm on my 11th car in 7 years (including 3 new cars) so I don't really bother with such things because I'm absolutley positive I wont have the car when doing that stuff matters, i just change out the oil every 4k and $hit on the rest. And if you are like me, I reccomend you skip it.
If you plan on keeping the car for absolutley ever, then do all of the regularly scheduled maint. AND use synthetic oil.

It won't void your warranty. It's your option to take it to the dealer for any reason. They can't make you do it.
If your car is due for an oil change, at least change it yourself or spend about $25 getting someone else to do it. Your car will run like shyt on dirty oil to say the least so be smart and change it. It is the lifeblood of the engine.

It will not void your cars warranty but you can run into problems getting things covered under warranty if you don`t do the scheduled maintenance. For example if your right front tire falls off of the car and that was one of the things they have listed to check in the 20k check-up your F**ked. They are not going to fix it for you or any other problem relating to it. Maintenance is for one thing and one thing only, to take care of your car.
