Need an explaination of service manager jibberish
My car is in... AGAIN. 3rd time for the clutch, which is still squeaking. I asked what it was, the service manager said it was a hydraulically controlled "fork" that engages a ball joint that was making noise. It is somewhere in the vacinity of the clutch assembly... I couldn't really tell where he was pointing, I was in the car, pushing the pedal in and out. Now... can someone translate that into the name of a real car part? Is this the throwout bearing or what? I have no idea
WTF? Okay, from people's past experience, people who have squeaky clutches just lubricate it. Mine is squeaky, too. I dunno, when the car is on, I usually can't hear it until the car is off.

Well, apparently this is something more than lubing the clutch up. Because that's already been done.... twice. They think something is rubbing or worn out that shouldn't be, so it's being looked at. I just want to know what this fork and ball assembly thing is.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, as I havent gotten familiar yet with our trannies. But typically the fork is connected to the clutch cableor linkage, and when you push the pedal down the fork separates the pressure plate from the clutch. I remember reading something here about some guys having problems with their fork, but I think it was reverse gear related.

Supposedly now fixed for good. I don't know for certain yet because I haven't picked it up. This is the latest story...
The fork is attached to the hydraulics and goes into the bell housing. Inside, there is a bearing which presses on something which causes the clutch to work. Basically, the mechanism that moves the throwout bearing. The bearing on the end of the fork was packed with grease and the service manager now swears the noise is gone. He said he was going to pump it quite a few times before he gave it back, just to make sure the squeak is gone. So I hope it is.... because if I have to go back a 4th time......

Boiler I'm expericeing the same noise The dealer hear said it was just the return spring for the clutch pedal. It is a spring in a plastic sleave and as the spring moves it rubs the tubing. I little graphit lube and problem gone. Might be the same on yours.
