2010 Honda Civic LX-S Maintenance Minder System
I have a question about my 2010 Honda Civic LX-S Maintenance Minder System.
I know the oil life system counts how many miles I ran since the latest service.
However, do they count how much time passed since the latest service?
I meant if I don't run the car for 20 years right after a engine oil change, would the minder show 0% oil life or still 100% oil life?

The system operates on a design model, therefore it relies on someone using the correct fluids.
The system cannot actually physically monitor the oil or any other fluid or filters.
The system cannot tell if someone poured the correct spec oil in it or the crappiest discount oil.

So, should you get an oil change before the maintenance minder alert pops up if you're not using the car much and it's been a while since the last oil change?

Re: 2010 Honda Civic LX-S Maintenance Minder System
The time interval was 1 year IIRC.
I used a 5000 mile set interval on 05 & 10 Civics.
But, may use the MM on the next car (9th gen) and just watch the percentage remaining, then schedule when getting close to 25-20%. Or, may use a 7500 set interval.
At 5000 miles using dino often it's at 30-40% remaining.... it will be hard to change my ways, but need to.
