Automatice Redlining
I have and Auto and my car redlines before the gears chnage... Is that bad?? It seems to be running quicker not that its really matters cause i know it'll never be quick. But will that mess up my car?

Don't step on the gas so hard and it won't redline.[hr]

1. Use the shifter like you have a sequential and run it up through the gears. Shifting 1, 2, 3, D and destroying the transmission in the process
2. Put the pedal to the floor. There is no way to put the pedal in a half way and get the car to redline. The computer just won't let it happen. Every automatic is like that. Some cars, when you floor it, you can actually feel the pedal trip through something that will let the throttle go wide open.
Thats it, any other way, and something has to be wrong. The transmission computer is going to shift for optimum fuel economy and shift based on how far the pedal is depressed (consequently, how far the throttle is open). Some autos won't even run to the red line (Jaguars come to mind), they will actually shift several hundred RPM before it, just to be extra safe.

to answer the question, I dunno man, take it in, sounds like you have a problem. Did you get your ECU reprogrammed or anything?

Boilmaker you obviously don't understand the problem, we don't even have a '1' nor can you redline 3rd and shift up to 'D'

Toca even said he presses the pedal gently and it still does that, obviously it's internal not the wya he presses the pedal.
Take it to Honda, it doesnt seem bad right now, but it can be soon.
I believe the redline is 7 100 and the car shifts around 6 800 when you press the pedal all the way to the end....
there is something seriously wrong with your car man...take it as soon as possible...I won't repeat everything that has been said before...good explanations...your engine life will severely shorten if that keeps going...

[hr]Yeah, my point, have u ever driven an automatic civic? they shift about 200 rpm before redline, therefore, no offense, but your first response deserves a[hr]

YES... I have driven an auto Civic. However, my intention when driving it was not to see how fast it would go, nor to red line it.[hr]
