i'm worried about my tranny and car
LX coupr
I got a LX coupe (AUTO) today i race my friends' corolla (AUTO) i race from a cold engine block...so i dunno if that was a smart move i guess not!!! well anyways when i took off the car stayed in gear and wen't up to redline, and i didn't smell anything, cause usually when i'm rolling and floor it i smell and feel my engine's heat through the vents... any ways... you think I'll regret this race? since i got a auto? cause i do floor it alot and now i think i should calm down while driving.. cause i dun want problems in the future. like lately the tranny shifting is smoother...
How many miles do you have? As long as you do all the services your manual said you should be fine. Also check your oil/coolant whenever you stop for gas. It is wise to let your car warm up first b4 you beat it =)

You also must remember that our Civics aren't performance cars, they're only going to take so much punishment until they break. If you floor it a lot I can tell you you're going to lessin the life of your tranny. Just my 2¢
dun worry about the engine or tranny....
if u keep driving like that, u'll likely crash ur car and get a total loss before the engine or tranny wears out....

i have an LX auto as well. i let my engine warm up before take it pass 3k.
but once its warm, i'll floor it about every chance i get.
i guess its not the best for the long long run.
but i'm sure it'll last long enough.

Its a good idea to let your engine get up to operating temperature before hitting it hard. The engine and tranny, etc... were designed to operate at that temperature. The clearances are bigger when the engine is cold and this produces more wear on the engine when it is run hard. So its probably a good idea to wait the few minutes the engine needs to warm up before racing it. Its worth it, trust me...
It's good to warm the car up before "whacking" it. Allows the oil to be properly channel to all parts of the engine giving proper lubrication. Don't worry too much though, Honda has a self protection mechanism for it's engine. Vtec will not engage until the car has reached it's optimum operating temperature. Cheers.
