What type of gas to fill up with?
The detergent in Chevron gas (Techron) is excellent. So yes, I does matter where you fill up. There are no Chevron stations around me, so I'm forced to buy the Techron additive sperately. I use a bottle every other oil change.

Will filling up with mid-plus gas(87 octane) or relgular(86 octane) make a big difference in performance. Someone told me filling up with a high octane level like premium can mess some cars up, because the engine is not made for it.
Uh Oh this non winable topic again. I have used chevron regular 87 octane and I got way less mpg then when I filled up with 92 octane. Also I like how much better my car moves and sounds so I stick with 92

A vibration or pinging sound on 87 octane could be caused by deposits in the combustion chamber. Try running Techron in with a tankful...then switch back to 87. That should fix it. If it still pings on 87 mention it to your dealer.

I average 325 miles before the light comes on with Chevron 87... and i drive hard. (Reaching my imaginary LX vtec several times a day)
I'm gonna waste my money one day and try 91 for a week... let's see if it does improve anything at all.

97? I'm assuming you meant 87. I get 380-400 city in my HX on 87. I also get 48mpg highway on 87, but that's with my HAI.
edit: Range is to 10 gallons...even though we have 13+ gallon tanks. I always fill up to 10 gal. +/- .2gal.

Well i'm running 91 this week and the car DEFINETELY feels smoother and richer.
Idle is very smooth...
Intake and headers sound healthier (better cleaner sound)
Perhaps it's my mind playing games, but whatevers. Switching back to 87 as soon as the tank empties itself.

87 octane gas is not refined as much as higher grades of gas. therefore in higher compression engines 87 would make your car run rough. however our cars dont use a high compression like say the itr does, which requires a high grade of gas, 94 or above. when your manual says 87 octane or higher it means anything lower will make the car run rough and anything higher is not really needed but wont hurt.
