I hate honda
For anyone going to read this I apologize for this thread but I am stressed about my car and I have to vent about how much I don't like honda. So I take my car into honda yesterday for a sqeaky clutch and the rear of my car creaking this is the second time for both these problems, and I also asked them to check out if I have a water leak cause the inside of my car smells like a$$. It smells so bad that it is sickening and I have to drive with the windows down when possible to keep from puking. When I get to the dealer I'm bounced around from person to person until I finally get the service manager. I don't know what was wrong with him that day but he was in an awful mood and he apparently took it out on me by asking my stupid questions like are you sure its your clutch that is squeaking? and do you leave your sunroof open at night cause that can let rain get in and make your car smell. At this point I was pretty angry but I figure I'll play nice and see what I can get done. After being refused a rental because I'm not an important enough customer and the 25 hours of class and 40+ hrs of work I have a week doesn't really matter to him. I leave the dealer an hour and a half later with no car, a headache, and a mind full of thoughts on how I'm gonna get to class at and to work. Now this morning during one of my breaks at class I call honda and talk to the service manager that helped me out the night before and he can't seem to find my car in the computer so he asks if I am sure I'm calling the right dealer, after explaining to him that he helped me out the night before he realized that it was me and put me on hold for 20 mins while going to find out what is up with my car. when he gets back he tells me they are drying the back seat and the carpet and they are going to try to make it smell like new. when I asked him about the clutch and the rear he sounded confused and asked what was wrong with them and if I reported them to him yesterday, at this point I actually cursed and explained again what was wrong he says he will check it out and call me back. Flip now to 5 hrs later, I call and ask for the service manager apparently he left for the day so the guy that I am speaking to tells me my car is all done and I can pick it up. I asked if they found where the leak was and he was clueless, after I told him about my car smelling and the service manager telling me they were drying out my back seat and carpet he explains that they could not find a leak and thought the smell was coming from a clean pair of shorts in my trunk. Now I'm fed up and just ask them to send the shuttle to pick me up so I can get my car. When I get to the dealership I again am bounced to 5 people before I get to the right person who doesn't have my paperwork or my keys. I'm freaking out at this point and just go to someone that looks important out in the garage and ask him, he ends up having my keys and all my paperwork. He gives me my keys and the service report and points me to my car, while walking out to my car I read on the work order form...."Customer has a bad mildew smell that indicates a water leak. Rear seat was wet " , but I thought my seat was not wet and they couldn't find a leak. "Customer was here with a squeaky clutch, repairs were completed but noise still evidant", now I think to myself how can they have fixed it if its still not working? "check squeak in rear suspension" nothing was noted here so I assume they never even looked at it. So now I open my door and am hit with a putrid smell, as I sit in the car I hear the back end creak and when I press the clutch it still squeaks. I drive my car up to the main entrance of the service dept ask the service advisor to get into my car and go for a quick ride with me. As soon as he gets in he says " man it really smells bad in here " I tell him I know, then he presses the clutch and it squeaks " sometimes you just have to press it a few times to get the grease moving ". I swear he pressed that clutch in and out for a solid 2 minutes and the squeak just got worse. He then asks me to take him for a ride so he can hear the rear creak, after driving about 30 feet and it creaking the whole time he asks if I can bring the car back the next day. So that was my fun honda experience, I realize I hate them and that I don't wanna go back to get the stuff taken care of even though I know I have to. Thanks for reading and even though I don't feel any better about typing this all out I now realize how mad I am with the service I had to deal with. If anyone has any tips on what I should do they would be greatly appreciated

Oh shitty man. I feel for you. Besides giving the dealership more **** and writting a letter to honda; with this posting included on the side.. haha. I would print up all the TSBs pertaining to your problem. Hand it to the head mechanic and have them fix it as advised in the TSBs. I've heard others doing this with positive results. Good luck to you man.

Call Honda and tell them what the deal is. They'll get on your dealer to do it right. All you have to do is describe that situation and Honda should have no problem ripping your service manager at least one new ***.
I'm going in for my 3rd trip with the clutch, and they can't find the squeaky part in mine either... It isn't the pedal or the master cylinder... so that really only leaves the clutch itself. So I guess if they're smart enough, they'll take it apart, but I'm not going to tell them what I think is wrong, I'm going to see if they can find it.

While I still had my civic I called Honda Canada and complained about my dealer's incompetence in fixing my car after numerous visits. All they did is ask me to go to another dealer which is more than 30 mins away from where I live. Didn't even asked me about which dealer I went to and the details. Basically the guy heard my story, asked me to go to another dealer, and hung me up....and that's what I got after waiting on the phone for 40 mins.

I've pinpointed it down to the clutch assembly itself. Having no resonator box (CAI) I could stick my head down in there and listen to it. It's definately coming out of the clutch itself. It doesn't slip or grind, it just squeaks and clicks... If I had to guess, I'd say there's a problem with the throwout bearing. And if they tell me to accept it the way it is, they can accept my car... back into their inventory with $17850 back into my pocket. I'm not driving around in a new car that makes more noise than my old car did with 135000 miles on it.

I talked to honda today and I talked to a service manager that was nice to me, he said they are gonna order me new struts for the back even though they didn't check to see if that was the problem. I figure that if that doesnt fix the problem I have new struts I was also told that he is going to contact some honda engineers to ask them about my clutch so he can see what needs to be done cause the last 2 times they performed what was recommended by the TSB and it didn't fix my problem. hes also gonna check the car again for leaks cause my carpet is wet in the back of my car. I get to take my car to them next friday and hes going to make sure I get a rental car, which I'm really glad about cause I definately need one. He apologized for the awful service that was given to me the day before. I'm hoping my car will work properly now otherwise I will burn down my honda dealership. Does anyone know that if these problems are not resolved if I can take any legal matter?? I don't wanna drive a car that I'm paying out the A$$ for if its going to smell and not work properly.

hey man that blows. i am sure you took the matters in your own hands as best as you could. when you see them the next time, be stern, be breif, and dont take their rejection of saying "oh that's how it is and accept it" bs. if you think about it then they are saying that all honda civics have squeaky clutches and who cares. if that the case they should mention that in their advertising! i can see the teenage boy in the sedan commerecial saying "hey check out this clutch, it squeaks man and i love it
".
omg dealerships are so full of ****.
right now i have to look for the right dealership to do my first oil change
. some places are helpful, but if they are busy they dont give 2 ***** about you.
maybe somewhere downtown would be best for me huh?

not the same complaint but I feel ya, The bold holding my tie rod on somehow was stripped and about to fall off.. luckily I caught it before anything happens.. so I go around to see if I can find the part to replace it since I am at 38,000 miles with no warranty and find a honda dealership that has it.. I go in get raped and pay the 67.00 dollars for a part that I am sure cost no more then 5.00 to make.. but on top of all that they didn't have the castle nut for the part.. and refused to give me one or even take the time of day to try to find one for me .. I'm going to run some course of action .. I don't know what just yet but I am also in school full time and work full time and don't have the full time to mess with dealership bullsht
