OK here's the situation, I drive to work this morning, everything is fine... go to work, about 2 hours later I have to go to the post office... go out start my car and drive away. I have like NO power at all which is funny because you all know how we have no power anyways! But I'm talking it was boggin down bad and it sounded like a lawn mower. I'm like WTF? I Drive to the post office and pop the hood, the engine is shaking bad! I do what I had to do and go back to work, driving cautiosuly! I go to leave work hoping the problem just went away. Nope. I have my boss look at it because we work at a classic car parts store and he thought it had something to with the plugs or coils. So i'm like damn. I keep fiddling with stuff and notice the CEL is blinking! I never had that happen, anyways I check the manual it says something about low oil pressure? I turned my car off checked the oil which was fine, and decided to turn my Venom VCN400 off, and restarted it. it ran fine. THen I turned it off again turned the venom back on and it ran fine. Now I was really confused. I just drove home then but noticed the CEL was on all the way! I get home disconnect my negative battery terminal for about 10 minutes, then hooked it back up and started the car, let idle for about 10 minutes. The CEL stayed off. I wanna know what the heck is goin on here. I have so many mods the dealer would probbaly laugh, but my warranty is up in like 2000 miles. I don't know what I am gunna do i am so frustrated. I wonder if this has anything to do with running my o2 sim. I might have to put my cat back on who knows! Can anyone let me know what could be wrong?

i have to say this to u,u may have installed /modified somethin wrong to cause this problem,many thing can cause the symptom u have,fuel delivery,timing,sparks,vacuum and computer module.i think its a wasted time/money to modifiy the new civics

Yeah but I havent changed anything or added anything new to my car in over a month. It has been working fine. I could see if I just added something new and then it messed it up or if it messed up WHILE i was driving. But i dove it fine, parked it, then when I restarted it, it ran like crap. I'm thinking when I checked the oil, i changed the pressure in the oil. maybe since the temperature has changed lately it caused a pressure drop in the oil pan or something. Either way its running like a champ again now so who knows WTF happened!

DAMN IT!!!! I just came home from work and the same thing happened AGAIN!! I am pissed now, I drove home like I normally do parked my car went inside and let my dog out. i came back outside to adjust my new sway bar. After I got it adjusted I wanted to go for a test spin, i started the car up and it was idling really rough, Then the CEL started blinking again. This time turning the venom off made no difference so that wasn't the problem last time. I could smell gas bad too, it was fresh gas too like I just pumped up. I disconnected my battery terminal hoping to reset the ECU but nothing changed. Do you think I got a problem with my fuel pump? Was there a recall or something? I don't know what to do guys! HELP!

I think you need to leave it alone and drive to the dealer with the cel ON. If you have a friend that can hook into the computer and read the code you could find out that way.

I just say to suck it up and go to the dealer. It would be better than being left stranded.

Go to Auto Zone...they do diagnostic readings for free there when the CEL is on...

hey check your ignition coils.i think they are causing the problem,try putting on your original ones.one coil not working=lawnmower sound and you will smell unburned fuel.

ya if you have a dead coil thats 1 cyl not being used. wasted fuel and takes 5 min to 0-60 (slight exaggeration)

Got any friends that work at a automotive garage? Hook the car up to a OBDII reader and see what code it throws, check the code, and take it from there.

OK guys, I checked my coils out, all the LED's were on so I took the coils out and the plugs out, everything looked OK except there was this brown crap around where the plug touches the spring in the coil. I wiped all that crap out. Also one of my plugs seemed kinda loose when I took it out. My electrodes still all looked good, I made sure the spark plugs were good and tight, reseated the coils, rehooked up my negative and it started up. It seemed to run smoother than I remember in while. Anyways, hopefully I fixed the probelm. It hasnt happened since then but its only been a few days, only time will tell.
