2002 Civic Coupe LX
I notice when I run the AC and accelerate, the AC compressor whines up like it's a turbo. It will do this between 2000 and 5000 rpm and in the first three gears. Once I get it into 4th, the sound is gone, probably by then I'm not taxing the engine much.
It's weird. I hit the gas and the AC whines up. Drop the gas to go into the next gear and it whines down and back up again in the next gear. Once in a while I'll get it just at the right vibration and the noise is no longer a whine but like a truck using its Jake brake.

I know its originating from the AC as I have shut it down while accelerating and the whine instantly quit.
Anyone else with a similar tale.

Take it from me, I'm a old A/C tech, don't run your A/C anymore!!! Sounds like you have a A/C compressor going bad, take it back to the dealer ASAP. If you keep running the A/C compressor the way it is right now; with the sound your describing, you might blow the compressor "reed valves" and damage the rest of the system. By running broken pieces of damaged valve bits though the system you'll have many more problems. Even if its under warrenty I'd try to save as much of the system as you can.
