Re: 5 speed rebuild?

You can but a rebuild kit form a local parts store.

It should include all the bearings you need and the synchronizers.

Also check your transmission mount while you're at it and you may want to contact a scrap yard and see if they can find you a clean 1st and 2nd gear.

Re: 5 speed rebuild?

I've got 5 speed gears.. the case is cracked.. the 5 gear wasn't engaging due to some reason.. but I'll get another trans so I can bench build it and slap it in.. the one in the car now has horrible bearing noise. I didn't think autozone would have a "kit" .. I'll check now.

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one

Re: 5 speed rebuild?

Since I usually only go into a manual gearbox to fix a specific problem:
I drive it to see what all issues it has so I know what areas to be looking at when I strip it apart
Strip it apart, inspect, determine what parts are needed and what can be reused
Replace what's necessary

Re: 5 speed rebuild?

You're in luck I still have my bearing box from when I rebuilt my 5 speed about 2 years. https://transpartswarehouse.com/standard/honda/bk499-honda-civic-slw-manual-transmission-rebuild-bearing-seal-kit-2001-2005-1-7.html

The kit part number isBK499 from Transparts Warehouse.

I also bought a synchro kit but I don't remember where or what the part number is.
