Horn Beep When Key Turned To "Off" Position

Hello! Everytime I turn my key from the "ON" position to the "OFF" position, my horn beeps. It does it whether or not I start the car.

01 Civic LX, Manual, not VTEC

It has been happening for years, and it's very annoying. I bet it's even more annoying to my neighbors when I get back in the earls AM's from out-of-town gigs...

What would cause this, and how do I go about diagnosing it?

I'll give more info if you need it! Help me help you help me

Sounds like a faulty aftermarket alarm issue.

The blinking red LED is right above the hood popping lever. It's not secured in though.

That confirms your car has an aftermarket alarm.

Re: Horn Beep When Key Turned To "Off" Position

Some possible options:

Disable the entire alarm
Disable and remove entire alarm, restore wiring to stock configuration
Figure out what brand/model alarm it is and see if you can get instructions for it, figure out how to change preferences so it doesn't do what you don't like

Cool, thanks! I have a buddy that does car alarms, stereos, backup cameras, and all that fancy crap for a living. I think I'll call in a favor!
