Never read the sound of a vacuum leak being described as a humm but it’s your ears.

Honda Civic has no vacuum lines in that area, but suppose a failed egr gasket or intake crack might seeming sound like it’s comming from tranny area.

You can leave the air filter box alone and just pull off the resonator box that’s right on top of the transmission. to have a better “ear” to your problem.

I usually suspect a failed bearing when I hear a humm around things that rotate. Mechanic stethoscope or metal rod pressed to the outside of your ear canal moving from spot to spot in the area usually locates it.

For a audible hiss aka vacuum leak I use a meter long length of hollow tubing to isolate sound sources.

A length of tubing is great for locating some noises.
