2004 Honda Civic ex check engine light
Hey so I have a 2004 Honda Civic ex coupe I was on the way back from Florida when my check engine light came on I waitited till i got home to go to my local autozone to have the code read. It came back as P2646 which is the variable valve timing oil pressure switch. So I changed the part. Drives a little better but still have the check engine light and it now won’t go past 4000 rpms any help?

You said it happened on a road trip which if the engine is burning oil would possible drop low enough to cause air to start getting sucked in and trigger the code even though the oil pressure idiot light was not triggering yet.
Along same lines it’s possible your oil filter is totally clogged up and the bypass mode is not letting enough oil through for the vtech monitor.
So given a fresh oil change with filter and a drive cycle or code reset if it doesn’t improve then your look8ng at pulling off some parts for cleaning and testing.
