Do you mean the Check Engine Light? You need to hook up a diagnostic scanner to the OBDII port under the dash on the driver's side to read the code. Report back with the code in this format P####. Autozone or similar will read codes for free.

Or do you mean the battery light? Check that the bolts to the alternator bracket are tight and not loose. These bolts act as the ground for the alt. Check your alternator and battery too.

OP is in Portugal, the cars there probably aren't quite the same as what we have in North America.
Does your service manual show you what the SCS connector looks like, and give a location for it?
Yes it just needs a jumper to bridge (short) the two terminals in question
In the service manual it says to connect the SCS short conector to the service check conector 2PA to read the DTC. Is this the same as shorting the contacts of the conector?
