My 2002 1.7L will start when it's cold very quickly every time but once it warms up the crank time goes way up. The other day I thought it was taking so long it wasn't going to start. I even called my son to pick me up. Waited a minute or so, tried starting it and it started. The only thing I tried was replacing the fuel pump relay located behind the glove box.

one of the coolant temp sensors may be giving a wrong value when warm, causing the computer to provide the wrong air/fuel mixture and making the car hard to start.
If you can plug in a scanner that shows live data it will show you all the sensor readings and you can see if one is out of whack

Aren't there 2 main fuel relays for our vehicles? If so, replace both. They are behind the glove box.

2 mains; one is for the fuel pump and other is for PCM

According to the Chilton manual I got from the library there are two relays called PGM-F1 and the fuel pump relay which I already replaced. These are behind the glove box. Should I replace the PGM-F1 relays?

It's PGM-FI, not F1 (letter I, not number one)

As I said earlier, one main relay is for the fuel pump and the other main relay is for the PCM. Both should have originally been blue.
You can replace it if you wish

3rd relay (black) is for reverse lights on auto trans cars




Personally, I'd want to connect a good scanner so I can watch (or record) live engine operating data when it acts up.

start by removing and cleaning your battery terminals,

How many relays does your car have behind the glovebox anyway?
Answer: 3 left to right a black one following two side by side blue and to the right of it a brown one.
I am courious as too what made you think you should just up and replace the relay.
Answer: I read a post on another forum site and that was what was recommended. I guess I wasted $25.
