2002 wont idle up
2002 wont idle up
had my civic under full acceleration. car just died down during pull. engine never cut off but would not pick up speed. if in park or out of gear engine will idle but will not raise above a few thousand rpm. sounds like its speeding up then gets a muffled sound like its starving out. it will back out as if hitting rev limiter. mad the mistake of buying new fuel pump that didn't fix problem. also blew out fuel lines and rail with air gun. have anyone had same problem?
Re: 2002 wont idle up
If it jumped timing will it idle normally? I can drive at low speeds(rpm), but as I give it throttle it jerks and won't accelerate. Had to go through the gears to get up speed to get home. Engine light came on and green key started flashing. Put on small obd tester, but didn't register a code

if the engine light came on you should have codes stored, even if it went back off
are you saying he green key was flashing while you were driving?
that definitely is not normal
Re: 2002 wont idle up
Yes it all happened while I was driving. I was under full acceleration, then engine backed out hard. Car will start up and run. If out of gear and I give it gas it will rev up a few thousand rpm(guessing no tach) then gets a muffled sound. Engine will rev up and down like hit rev limiter. Green key is flashing on dash and engine light on

Got a relay clicking madly behind the glovebox when it runs too?
Typical scenario: The alternator was left loose, came loose, broke bolts,or lost its grounding through corrosion.......now it has probably ruined the PCM.
