Scratchy clutch / Transmission fluid query

My Civic has now done approx 80k miles..

The clutch PEDAL is stiff and squeaks a bit from cold.. sometimes it's smooth. I don't know why it seems to vary. It's not 'like buttah'..

Is this the master slave part?? Can it be sorted?? I thought I read this is a common issue that people tend to live with but not sure if a fix was found..

Also the clutch action confuses me.. it might be just fine I've come from VW's but it feels like the biting point is very narrow, hard to control in slow moving traffic and sometimes hard to get the right balance between revs and clutch pedal action.. if that makes any sense? It tends to improve after warming up slightly.. but not necessarily. Gearstick is eager to come out of 1st usually.. can't feel anything slipping.. it might just be me...

Is there a way to determine the condition of the clutch??

And I read Tranny fluid change recommended at 72k miles so I'm getting that done and I'm wondering should I let garage choose fluid? they are absolutely brilliant and I trust them but they will use their choice of MTF, or should I definitely stick with Honda MTF?

Should I expect to feel a difference? Can it make things worse aswell as better??

Sorry for so many questions

Do some research and see if this info applies to cars on your side of the pond:

If it works ok (does not slip, no obvious issues), not without teardown. If it slips, it's getting a teardown to replace anyway.

Keep in mind the hydraulic system (clutch master and slave cylinders) is not the same as the clutch (disc and pressure plate, etc.).
should I definitely stick with Honda MTF?
I sure would. It's absolutely correct for the car, no question.

EDIT: Just noticed you have a brake issue too, that may be affecting how the car takes off from a stop.

Yeah I've seen this, the VIN was checked at the dealership I don't think this counts in the UK, but it definitely sounds like the issue. Maybe I'll print it off go in and have a chat - see if I can use the " magical powers of persuasion. " Seems a bit off if they won't address the same fault in the UK market!

Understood. It gets a road test shortly during service so they can advise.

Great. Appreciated, as always.

[Clutch has felt this way since I got the car 2014 btw predates brake issue.]
