Air Conditioning Stopped working
Air Conditioning Stopped working
Hey guys!
Im new to this site and new to owning a civic and I am having a problem with my air conditioning. I recently had my compressor replaced, it worked for two days then Stopped and the relay on the compressor had to be replaced. Now after a month it stopped again however this time the fan still runs. I know theres no leak in the system anywhere as it was just at my trusted mechanics shop. Now I think it might be the a/c clutch relay but im not sure. Any suggestions would be a huge help!

Re: Air Conditioning Stopped working
Could be just the clutch itself. There's a shim behind the clutch plate that's (or so I've been told) designed to be removed once the clutch starts to not work as well. So far, from the couple people that have tried it since I heard of this, it works like a charm.

Part labeled 6 on the diagram.
I'm sure ezone will chime in to verify whether or not this is a correct thing to do. lol
Word of caution. That nut (labeled 3) is not fun to take off. I tried an impact wrench with a 14mm socket (correct size, my impact socket's walls were a little to thick to get good engagement on the nut) on it and ended stripping it out a good bit. If you have an angle grinder, the spanner wrench to change out cutting wheels fits on the clutch to keep it still.

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one

NEW compressor? NEW relay?
Return to the shop that did the work. They owe you a working system, yes?
designed to be removed once the clutch starts to not work
If the compressor is new this shouldn't be a factor.
