engine mount questions
01 LX 5MT
i'm planning on replacing my trans/engine mount & the front engine mount in the next few days.
How can I check if the rear mount needs replacing?
Any tips for getting them installed properly? Just support the engine & swap the mount?
TIA!

Depending on what you are going to do, you may need to be able to move the drivetrain up and down and around a little to get bolt holes lined up so you probably want to use a floor jack and blocks of wood, prybars, tapered punch for lining up holes....
OEM mounts FTW!
If you got aftermarket, don't complain about vibration LOL

Re: engine mount questions
Pretty much hit the nail on the head in your post. Kudos to you.
I will say this much though. I have 180k on my 02, I've removed my engine/tranny, I've replaced (rather, DIY repaired using Devcon Flexane 80) my front and transmission motor mounts. My rear mount, aside from being a bit dirty over the years, showed no signs of cracking or excess fatigues, like my transmission and front motor mounts displayed. Take that for what it's worth.

Re: engine mount questions
But if I could offer one piece of advice, go OEM. I tried to save money and bought an off brand from Amazon. My car shook like a Tiger Tank. I rode it out for a year, thinking the mount would settle...nope. After I changed out my timing belt, I bought an OEM mount and my car is like butter.

Re: engine mount questions
Thanks for the replies. I replaced the front & trans mounts. A little tricky to get to the bottom bolts on the trans mount, but not bad.
Seems to have made a big difference. I was a little concerned because the mounts I removed seemed okay and about as stiff as the new ones. But I don't feel things moving under the hood anymore. At least not like before.
I think the rear mount needs to be replaced too. that looks really tough to get to... another project.
