pulling engine

I have a 2003 civic ex 1.7 with automatic trans. Looking in the service manual it shows to remove engine from the bottom. This would be difficult without a lift. Has anyone removed the engine from the top? Is this possible? if so would it be easier to remove eng. and trans as a unit or separate the eng and trans and remove just the eng?

Re: pulling engine

People say it can come out the top without the trans. You may need to remove the crank pulley for clearance before you start.
