03 civic how to verify timing belt broke

03 civic 88k miles original t belt. Tried to start this morning. It fired then died but will not fire again. Something tells me the t belt broke. Is there a an easy way to tell if the t belt is toast without tearing into cover? Car is in my garage I don't own a scan tool and have good mechanical skills but would not replace t belt and w pump myself just not willing to spend that much time wrenching these days. Thanks

i think the safest way is to pop the valve cover loose and then take the top timing cover off and see if it has some slack in it. - it being the timing belt

Get flashlight. Remove oil cap. Have someone else crank it. Watch for the rocker arms to move while cranking. If NO movement, then the timing belt is probably broke. If anything moves then the belt is at least not broke. LOL

May just be flooded?
The last time the engine ran before today: Did someone just move the car 20 feet to get it out of the garage and then shut it off?

It must have been flooded from pulling it from the driveway into garage. it was weird like the motor had a hydrolic lock cause initially I thought the starter was not engaging. Later I figured out it was turning over but still wasn't sure about the t belt. after it sat for a few hours I got it to start. I decided to do a fuel treatment changed the plugs and air filter. Thanks for the input so far it's running great.

from pulling it from the driveway into garage.
Don't do that!

Any time you start the engine, drive that sucker until it's reached operating temperature.
