Fuel filter on an 04 Civic
Fuel filter on an 04 Civic
Just purchased an 04 Civic in good condition but with 180k miles on it, doing some preventive maintenance, just completed a tune up, did an engine flush, fresh oil, all the filters were replaced, cabin, air, oil, spark plugs, degreased cleaned the engine, about to change all the belts as well and also next weekend I will be doing the water pump/timing belt, new front rotors and brakes. Curious to know if anyone has changed their "fuel filter" which I believe its inside the tank
now why Honda decided to have the fuel filter inside the tank is beyond me. Most cars have the fuel filter outside but anyway.. The car hasn't given me problems in regards to mpg's, hesitation, etc but with 180k miles I personally think that the fuel filter should be replaced... The most complicated job on this car is the timing belt and judging by a youtube video also the fuel filter, which contains the whole housing inside the damn tank
now the question is, when some of you do a tune up on the car, do you also consider changing the fuel filter? According to Honda dealer they didn't mention anything about changing the fuel filter while performing a tune up. So whats up what that??
Thanks~

Re: Fuel filter on an 04 Civic
It's considered a 'lifetime filter'. (Good for the life of the filter?)
Honda doesn't sell it separately, but there are instructions in the service manual for replacing it. Go figure.
