b) Check whether the important G101 ground wire on the thermostat housing is loose or corroded. If so, clean it thoroughly with steel wool and tighten. By the way, if G101 is disconnected or loose, the engine will lack both spark and fuel.
The quote is from the stickie on no start problems. My '02 Civic LX Coupe cranks but will not start. My daughter had been using the car and she returned it to me because it needs front brake work, but when I went to pick it up it wouldn't start. It had sat unused for a week or more when I picked it up on a trailer but AFAIK it had been running OK previously.
I've replaced two relays behind the glove box...Fuel Pump relay (blue) and Injector relay (brown) with no results. Now I've noticed that the ground wire (the flat braided cable) that should be between the thermostart housing and the body is missing. However, it's been that way for quite a while and yet the car was working just fine.
I checked a couple of spark plugs to see if they were wet with fuel and they are not. I also pulled the cover off the cabin air filter and poured a little gas into the throat of the fuel system. Same results, crank without even a hint of attempt to start.
The combination of dry spark plugs and cranking without even a hint of ignition leads me to search for a solution involving BOTH spark and fuel. Am I on the right track?

If I am not mistaken this is a braided cable that runs from the thermostat housing to the body of the car near the radiator.
The combination of dry spark plugs and cranking without even a hint of ignition leads me to search for a solution involving BOTH spark and fuel. Am I on the right track?
Got any helpful codes?
How many miles?
Does the cam turn? Is the cam timing correct?

I figured that out after removing the air box that feeds the FI system. The G101 was rusty so I cleaned it up with emory cloth but at that point still no start. Yesterday when I opened the air cleaner box it was full of mouse nest aka "Pink insulation".
No CEL
I didn't have anyone to assist me but now it's MOOT.
220,000 + miles and the car has always started right away except a couple of years ago when the original battery was toast.
Solved the problem a few minutes ago after reading the thread started by skatkat. Your post quoting (in red) from the owners manual reminded me that I had seen that exact information before but never connected the flashing green key with a problem!
So now I have the three original keys that came when we bought the car brand new in Sept. 2001. Somehow one of the keys (the one in my possession) got out of sync with the immobilizer system.
I've been letting my daughter use the car because her alternative commuter car is a full sized pickup that uses a lot of gas. I drove up and got the valet key and the other black key and both worked perfectly.
So now I just have to figure out how to re-program the faulty key!

Glad you figured it out!

I know cloneable blanks were sometimes available too, but that would take a different procedure.
