Rep Power: 0 How much does an o2 Sensor cost to fix?
Im looking to buy my first car, really a car for my household, so that we can get around... Anyways, I saw this Honda Civic(Hybrid) on sale, and it looked great! Except the seller said that it had a check engine light on for the o2 sensor and that it needed to have the ac charged. The AC I know is easy, but I have absolutely no clue about how much the sensor would cost, and how serious it is. I included a link to the ad if that helps. It's a 2003 model.

In advance i'd like to thank whoever posts to try and help me out!

01-03, the sensor is cheaper -- ~$80. 04-05, it's much more expensive, around $140 - $280.
Look up an O2 sensor for your model year on Amazon, should have the right Denso one there.

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one

Prepurchase inspection FTW!
By someone intimately familiar with Hondas Hybrids!
(How many people think a P0420 code means replace the O2 sensors? A LOT.)
A dealer A/F sensor is over $400 retail.
The dealer KIT for dual rear O2 sensors is $528 retail, there's a bulletin that applies to ULEV KA cars with P1420 or P2000 codes.
Yeah, these can be had cheaper, but there's probably more than meets the eye here.
Then there's numerous software updates, the possibility of really having a bad cat after the sensors get replaced, the IMA battery, the eventual trans replacement, and other possible eventual issues.
Has it had the IMA battery replaced yet?
The AC system has half of a chance of being straightforward.....BUT it "needs a charge"...... If that's all it needed, WTF why wouldn't the seller charge it already?
It's Georgia, and it's summer. It's freeking HOT there.
There's more to it than "just a charge", I bet it needs something expensive.
Keep a lot of cash on standby for whatever next problem pops up. LOL

Hybrid system works perfectly
And AC needs a charge
