Do I have a Transmission Problem?
Do I have a Transmission Problem?
Hello all I am new to this forum and know these forums are worth their weight in gold. I have an automatic 2001 Civic EX with approx 164K. I am the second owner. This is my primary care and take very good care of her. I was on the coast of San Francisco along Highway 1 and I hit some steep hills/turns and then next thing I notice I have no power...... I pressing on the gas and the my Civic is going nowhere, I thought I was in Neutral but I was in Drive. I shifted into low gear 1 and low gear 2 and nothing- no power at all. I get a tow back to my house. The Civic starts up fine but when I put the car in D, 1,2 or R the care does not lunge at all when I press on the gas. Any thoughts, the Engine Light is on but that is an emission issue according to the owners manual. Help your thoughts. Thanks in advance Tony. PS the Civic showed no signs of gear slipping on the freeway, the Transmission Oil Level is fine, I did hear some gear rattling a couple of time as I shifted from Park to Drive but I did not think nothing of it....
Re: Do I have a Transmission Problem?
the first thing i would check is your shifter cable and linkage,
look where the cable attaches to the transmission, have somebody else inside the car move the shifter, is the cable at the tranny moving the linkage?
