My headlight, seatbelt and key left in chimes are not working, but the overhead light does come on when I open the door. I thought it might be a problem with the door sensor, but I reseated those and it didn't seem to have an effect.

This problem came up when I took my instrument cluster out a few weeks ago. The spedometer was bouncing and getting increasingly worse, so I took it out to see if anything was loose. By reseating the plugs, the bouncing spedometer resolved itself. But now the chimes don't work, and I've drained my battery twice already.

The odd thing is that when I first start the car, the chime does come on for a bit, then vanishes. Any ideas? I've checked some of the fuses, and they're fine. Is this something that will probably be too expensive to fix, considering the age of the car?

I did a search because I have the same problem, and I found that my Drivers door ajar switch was broken and inside the panel, I fished it out and it still didn't work.. so I bought a new one for $5 and back to normal.

..... but, not the drivers door apparently.

Those plunger switches get broken often somehow.
