Alternator rattle

Hello. So I have an 01 LX and every time I start the car to let it warm up, a very annoying and fairly loud rattle comes from the engine bay. At first, I suspected that it was the front engine mount (which was broken) and I replaced it but the rattle is still there. The rattle goes away when accelerating past 2k~ rpm and comes back when idling or until the car is at operating temps(or it just gets quieter to where it is almost unnoticeable). I looked at some maintenance records and found that during a recall inspection back in November the previous owner had been informed that an alternator bolt was loose and causing a rattle. Upon looking under the hood and listening for the rattle, I could tell it was exactly that. I don't know how many bolts the alternator has so I am unsure which bolts are loose or missing, or where I should look and how I should fix the problem.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Re: Alternator rattle

could be your A/C pulley causing that noise rattle,

remove the alternator belt and start the car, is the sound gone?

if so, its your alt or a/c pulley, so you need to figure out which one,

i believe the alt has 3 mounting bolts, but cant quite remember as its been awhile,

Nobody bothered to take care of it at that point in time?

Jeez.

There's one bolt with a 14mm head you get from above, it's just under the PS pump.

Then you go through the wheelwell to find the others on the adjustment bracket.

Re: Alternator rattle

To get to the one from above I will have to remove the pump right? I am a little afraid hesitant because those hoses look important lol. Also, there should be a total of 3 bolts right?

*I* don't have to.

Maybe.

Or maybe not.
As in, what happens if you find the 3 in question already tight? What do you do then?
