Serious shock issues. Need some info
Serious shock issues. Need some info
I just replaced the rear shocks. I heard a lot of rattling when I went to work. I looked at it today and found both rods sticking out of the top. What happened? What do I need to fix it?

I'm gonna delete your other thread since you're trying to address the same issue.
As far as helping you out, if you could post pics of exactly what rods are sticking out, it'd be incredibly helpful. As it stands, I have no idea what part(s) to which you are referring.

Yes both of the rods, along with the bushings are sticking up above the top hat about an inch and a half. I have a 1.4" drop on the car and the shocks should be able to withstand it.

? The rod in the picture is already more than an inch and half above top hats? Including nuts and all.
Searched stagg shocks and they seem to be cheap oe replacements... not suited for sport eibach....
Concerning your issues, my best guess is installation issues or old part reused that failed.
But again, I did not see it, so hard to tell.

Sounds like the steel plate that was supposed to keep the shaft from coming up, didn't.
A/M strut may be different size, worn plate, who knows? Or maybe it just wasn't assembled correctly.
If someone forgot to install (random rear strut pic here) #11, or put it in the wrong place, the rod may not be retained and may be free to come up through the bushings....

#11 washer is supposed to sit on the step of the rod. If that washer is missing or the rod can come through that washer, you are gonna have problems.
But none of us can actually see what you are dealing with.

if you're still having image hosting issues, upload them the imgur.com. I think you can do it without registering. After that, either a) copy the [img] [/img] link they supply or copy the image URL and place them between [img] [/img] tags. the
button does the same thing for you, as ezone mentioned earlier

I tore everything apart and noticed that there was no bottom washer. I looked at the old shock and noticed that the bottom washer was welded on the shaft from factory. I bought new washer and bushing kits and everything came together as it should. Thank you guys for all of your input.
