poping out of gear
poping out of gear
Hey civic fans, i just bought a 2002 civic si used that recently had a new clutch installed. first thing I did was remove their box and put a short ram Do It Yourself type of intake from autozone. as soon as I started driving away after I installed it the car wouldn't stay in first gear 3rd gear 5th gear. I remove the intake I put on put the factory box back in and the problem doesn't exist anymore is there something I have to do is it related at all to the intake. I did notice under the air box there was a nipple for a vacuum hose that doesn't have a hose on it located right on top of the transmission by you the car clutch cable or another cable not sure. could this be an issue I have a picture of it I've done this to every car I've owned never experienced this problem
this is my third Civic. has anybody else had any of these types of problems I did put a filter on the 13 there tube but I didn't realize it was all or 12 closer to the throttle body. I'm very concerned that the nipple on top of the transmission is supposed to have something attached to it. its just extremely odd that the car wouldn't stay in gear and when I put the factory box back in it works fine.

Huge difference.
I'll guess yours is the former.

It's quite simple really.
Logic, reason, and careful observation will lead you to conclude:
Your DIY intake from DangerZone is obstructing shifter cable and linkage movement on top of the trans.
YOU have to figure out WHY.
Either figure it out and make it right or go back to stock until you find something that works.

Item #1 here

It's shown as $4.08 MSRP here, any dealer can probably get it overnight

like ezone said, something on the aftermarket intake is obstructing
a little common sense would tell you that from your comment above
